A hobby is defined as an activity that engages a person for a long time and the person finds self-satisfaction in doing the same. As he enjoys working on it, it becomes a part of him. As it keeps him happy, he loves to take it up again and again.
A well-known hobby is collecting stamps. As India is a country that has had many rulers, it has a vast variety of stamps as kings and princes always had their faces embossed on the stamp.
There are hobbies for different types of people and different age groups. So be it young or very old, there is a hobby made for everybody.

Children have to be introduced to hobbies. If a family already has an artist as a member, children are most likely to pick that up and follow the same hobby. But if there is nobody then someone has to lead the way to them.
Also hobbies depend on the area one resides. If it is a mountainous region then it is most likely that mountain climbing, river rafting and other adventurous sports are pursued.
Hobbies also depend on the gender or
age.
As young girls are always given dolls to play with, they love to dress their dolls, stitch and cook. Fashion, knitting, astrology, diet, modelling, dancing are a few options that girls take up as a hobby.
Boys on the other hand are given cars to play with and so they are interested in bikes, cars, fixing automobiles, car models, car antiques, parts and types of motors and other fixtures of the vehicle. Travelling, riding, photography are the male hobby options.
Well there are some hobbies, which could be pursued by both the genders. Like reading, writing, gardening etc. But what have been known as hobbies need not be pursued by route. One can invent his or her hobby. A list of hobby ideas could be anything that one likes to do and then takes it forward. For instance if one likes to paint and experiment with painting then body painting is a good option.
If pets are what one likes then communicating with them and understanding their behavior could be a different hobby. Watching stars with friends on the terrace of a building could be a good hobby that excites one to take up astronomy.
Exploring regions that are not discovered, going through lava caves, underwater aerobics, underwater photography etc. are all ideas that can be conjured in the mind and then taken up as a hobby.
