A foreign language is a language which is not spoken by the masses of a particular country. A good example would be a Japanese person who is able to speak French fluently has learnt French as a foreign language, as it isn’t his native language. Most education systems around the world teach children at a young age the proficiency of learning more than one language, making them bilingual. In most cases the first language a child learns to speak is usually the native language also known as the mother tongue. In the state of Maharashtra in India, Marathi is the first language taught in schools however children are also trained in Hindi and English.

TEFL can be introduced in schools, colleges and university. You usually need to learn it in your own country. For example if you have gone on an education visa abroad in order to master a language, then it is advisable to live with a local family who can converse with you and correct you when you go wrong. This increases chances of you being fluent much faster.
